Sawyer is new Faith Academy head volleyball coach
Erin Sawyer is the new volleyball head coach at Faith Academy of Marble Falls.
Sawyer spent the last couple of years as the top assistant coach on Adrienne Pabon’s staff.
“Coach Sawyer has been coaching here for two years,” athletic director Zakk Revelle said. “We put her at the junior high because we knew how good she was.”
Sawyer also coaches the Highland Lakes Aces, a club volleyball team, which demonstrates her ability to coach players of all ages and experiences. She is constantly in the gym and is searching for ways to help her players improve themselves. Her background at Faith Academy where she knows students in all grades made it easy to offer her the job, Revelle said.
“She has some young teams and has done an incredible job,” he said. “You want coaches who’ll be here for awhile. She was a no-brainer (hire).”
The director noted Sawyer signed up the Lady Flames to play in the June Volleyball League hosted by Marble Falls each Wednesday at Marble Falls Middle School. The league also has teams from Burnet, Johnson City, Lampasas and Llano.
“It was a no-brainer,” he said. “She comes from the select world, she’s a select volleyball coach, she coached at a high school in California. The girls learned a ton and got better every day. We didn’t have to go outside the realm. She’s already taken hold of that role.”
Revelle noted the Class 3A state champion, Round Rock Christian, is in the same District 3-3A with Faith Academy.
Pabon stepped down from the position because of other commitments.
“We’re very thankful for coach Pabon and the time she spent,” Revelle said. “They’re better young ladies for having coach Pabon. She stated she was looking at things a little differently. She owns a business in the middle of (Marble Falls). She said, ‘I don’t want to give half of me.'”
